Sheriff Carl E. DuBois Seeks Fourth Term
Sheriff Carl DuBois
WALLKILL - On January 25th, Sheriff Carl DuBois announced his intention to run for a fourth term in the Town of Wallkill. He was joined by over 200 supporters including veterans, elected officials, and unions. DuBois was praised for many of his achievements by Senator William J. Larkin, Jr., Wallkill Town Supervisor Dan Depew and Orange County Executive Steve Neuhaus. DuBois looks forward to working with the new County Executive and the new District Attorney Dave Hoovler as partners in crime enforcement.
While DuBois seemed to have more accomplishments than he could fit into a Saturday morning speech, he was most proud of the four accreditations the office has received during his tenure. They include accreditations by the NYS Division of Criminal Justice Services, the American Correctional Association, National Commission on Correctional Health Care, as well as the NYS Sheriff’s Association.
Sheriff DuBois and Accreditation manager Greg Gaetano are currently working to achieve their third National Accreditation. Through this accomplishment, the Orange County Sheriff’s Office will be one of the thirty five of over 3,100 Sheriff’s Offices nationwide to hold three national accreditations.
DuBois also spoke of over $40 million in revenues raised since 2003 through housing Immigration Customs Enforcement detainees in the Orange County Jail. Over $1 million dollars in funding has been secured for homeland security, corrections, and improved technology systems. Sheriff DuBois was also hopeful of a new firearms range currently being developed for training our local police officers and Sheriff’s Deputies.
