BEACON - The Howland Cultural Center’s monthly feature, The Gospel Café, will celebrate its 5th anniversary on Saturday, March 23, 2013 at 7:00 p.m. with a gathering of all the past year’s performers at the Center’s "Apollo Night at the Gospel Café." As at each anniversary celebration, a complete dinner will be served prior to the entertainment.
Groups performing at the event will include Family Community Adult Choir, Brothers of Gideon, Souls United, Rev. Banks & DCPM, Bobby Anderson, Bethel Missionary Baptist Church, and Higher Ground. The annual anniversary celebration has become a favorite with the Gospel Café audiences, so the public is encouraged to buy their tickets in advance.
Since its initiation five years ago, The Gospel Café has become the talk of the town. The Howland Cultural Center’s reputation for cultural activities and its archetypical for diversity in programming achieved a new zenith when the Center reached out to the local African American Community and invited them to become involved in a new concept for introducing the Hudson Valley region to gospel music. This new creation became known as The Gospel Café.
The Howland Cultural Center presents Gospel Jazz and Reggae in a coffeehouse setting - an informal, warm, and inviting ambience that provides the audience with an atmosphere in which to relax and enjoy some of the most exciting voices and musicians in the Mid-Hudson Valley.
