Annual Rev. Dr. King award presented to Nettie Garner

NEWBURGH - On Monday, January 21, 2013 the Black History Committee of the Hudson Valley awarded its Annual Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Award to Evangelist Nettie Garner, a member of the Newburgh community. Evangelist Garner is a member of the New Hope Baptist and is an instructor at the Newburgh Bible Institute.

Each year the award is presented to an individual who exemplifies the attributes of Dr. King at the annual City of Newburgh memorial service. The Black History Committee bears witness of Evangelist Garner’s extraordinary example of Dr. King’s ideals through her support of local food pantries and encouragement of residents in need.
