NEWBURGH - Third grade students at Fostertown ETC Magnet School in Newburgh shared the history of America with friends, family, and fellow students at the school’s recent production of The American Dream.

The musical chronicled the discovery, development, and events that were part of the history of America. The performance featured one of the earliest groups of settlers, the Clovis people, along with famous explorers, Pilgrims, and Puritans who embarked from their homelands in search of the New World. The performance showcased the fight for freedom from the British as well as the establishment of the government and Constitution. In addition, Westward Expansion and the struggle for freedom was a major theme in the performance.

Students brought to life the pieces of American history through stories and songs, and portrayed many historical characters such as Christopher Columbus, Leif Eriksson, William Penn, Thomas Jefferson, Paul Revere, Sacagawea, Sojourner Truth, Frederick Douglass, and Brigham Young among many other notable figures.
