MT. KISCO - The James Brown Family Foundation has retained Country Road Communications to manage the publicity for the foundation’s varied charitable outreach programs. The appointment dovetails the announcement that rock legend Mick Jagger and film and television producer Brian Grazer (A Beautiful Mind, Apollo 13) will co-produce a biopic chronicling the life of the Godfather of Soul.
Deanna Brown-Thomas, daughter of James Brown and President of the James Brown Family Foundation, envisions the PR campaign to highlight milestones of the film’s production, as well as to raise visibility for the foundation that both bears her father’s name and upholds his musical and philanthropic legacy.
"This film production will offer fans the opportunity to see beyond dad’s iconic showmanship and experience who he truly was as a person," says Brown-Thomas. "Dad was a generous man who never forgot where he came from. The James Brown Family Foundation continues his work with turkey and toy outreach, as well as a new music-based program, J.A.M.P. , which we are hoping to expand."
The James Brown Academy of Musik Pupils (J.A.M.P.) was established in February 2011 by Deanna Brown-Thomas. J.A.M.P. is an artistically driven organization dedicated to providing its students with a broad based music education. Its students range from pre-k through 12th grade. Elise Levine Cooper, president of Country Road Communications, views this engagement as a rare opportunity to convey one of the great, untold stories of music history. "James Brown was both a pop culture icon and a kind-hearted human being," notes Levine Cooper. "This is a great opportunity to shed light on a legend and help his foundation continue to do its great and important work."
