GOSHEN– Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana today signed Executive
Order No. 7 today as part of the County’s emergency response plan in
anticipation
to Hurricane Sandy’s arrival.
“Orange
County will see the highest winds later tonight into the evening
hours,” said County Executive Diana. “With the potential of downed
trees and wires,
extended power outages, and road closures it is best for County
residents to stay home and to be safe.”
The Executive Order directs the following for Tuesday, October 30:

All public schools (pre-K through high school) in Orange County will be closed
·
All private schools (pre-K through high school) in Orange County will be closed
·
SUNY Orange campuses in Middletown and Newburgh will be closed
·
County buildings will be closed to the public
·
County employees, except “essential,” are directed not to report to work after 7:00 am
·
Including County DMV offices and County Jail visitation
·
All County parks and recreational facilities will be closed
·
County, city, village and town courts in Orange County will be closed
·
Emergency Applications
will be heard at the Emergency Services Center
22 Wells Farm Road
in Goshen.
“My
office will revisit these directives on a daily basis as more
information becomes available to us about the storm’s impact,” said
Diana.
