NEW YORK, NY - Saturday was a tremendous success for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week newcomer Nina Skarra and her eco-friendly line. The show was packed and included celebrities such as Angela Simmons, Lil Kim, Alex Mccord of the Real housewives of NY, India De Beaufort of One Tree Hill, and William Beatty of the New York Giants.
This was an event of firsts, as it was the first time that Fashion Week was produced by one of Mercedes Benz African American production teams, MVC Management Productions and Tai Chunn.
“My team was very strong and we are extremely excited at the shows success which was a result of MVC Management Productions hard work,” stated MVC Management Productions CEO Tai Chunn. “This is a platform where the strongest eyes in the fashion world are and I’m excited about the upcoming Scandinavian explosion.”
The show’s designer, Nina Skarra, has been a designer for four years and was pushed into the Mercedes Benz spotlight as Tai Chunn noticed a lack of Scandinavian presence within NYC fashion.
“This collection has been inspired by fond memories of my stylish mother, my grandmother and their wardrobes,” states Fashion Designer Nina Skarra. She continued, “It incorporates the roaring twenties, symbolizing both my grandmother’s fun and rebellious youth, as well as St Tropez in the 1960s, where my mother spent time as a model.”
Skarra noted that the Spring/Summer 2013 collection brings together inspiration not only from their closets, but also from their personalities, sense of style, natural grace and desire for quality.
