City Water Dept. working on taste and odor issues

NEWBURGH - Due to low levels at Washington Lake Reservoir, City of Newburgh residents have experienced taste and odor issues with City water. The Water Department reports that water from Silver Stream Reservoir is being used to supplement and maintain the level of Washington Lake, and that adjustments to the treatment process have been implemented.

Testing continues to show that no health hazard exists. It is projected to take several days to rectify the situation. The Department encourages residents to help monitor the progress by reporting when the situation has improved in their homes.

Free drinking water from water tankers is available to City residents at two locations - the City of Newburgh Activity Center, 401 Washington Street, and City of Newburgh DPW at 88 Pierces Road. Please bring clean containers with you.

To learn more, call the City of Newburgh Water Dept. at (845) 565-3356.
