July 4th, 2012 Homeowners eligible for interest-free loans
GOSHEN – Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana is pleased to announce an interest free loan program available through the Orange County Office of Community Development. Orange County homeowners who meet the income criteria may apply for a zero percent interest loan to be used for eligible home repairs.
For a typical family of four to qualify for a loan, the 2012 family income limit cannot exceed $65,000. Loans amounts may be as much as $20,000 and are available for home repairs, as well as barrier-free accessibility improvements for the physically disabled. Examples of eligible improvements include: moderate structural and general repairs, weatherization, barrier removal, and heating system repairs.
“During these challenging economic times, some families are struggling to make ends meet. Often it is necessary repairs - work that may affect a family’s safety and security in their own home - that get left undone when cash is short. Orange County and the Office of Community Development are pleased to work with our federal government to provide assistance to those families who qualify for needed home repairs,” said Orange County Executive Edward A. Diana.
