Anderson sworn in for term as Dutchess Country Sheriff

Actor James Earl Jones (left) swore in Adrian “Butch” Anderson for his new term as Dutchess County Sheriff at a recent ceremony.

Poughkeepsie - Dutchess County Sheriff Adrian "Butch" Anderson recently took the oath of office for a new term, administered by his friend and neighbor of 41 years, actor James Earl Jones. Jones, who has played everything from Shakespeare to Darth Vader, swore in Anderson even though he is not a judge.

"I did play a judge in a movie called Somersby," said the actor. "It was set in post Civil War and I played a judge who functioned during the reconstruction in a southern state," he said.

"That’s what’s nice about being the sheriff of Dutchess County because there are so many good people out there and the good outweigh the bad," said Anderson.

Anderson also stated that the success of the sheriff’s office can be attributed to the efforts of all law enforcement in Dutchess County.
