Event will raise money for Safe Homes

Newburgh - On Monday, March 1st, PAINTER’S Restaurant, Cornwall-on-Hudson , will host and co-sponsor the Sweet-16th Anniversary of The Annual Love-Gently Dinner with Safe Homes of Orange County. Starring community personalities as waiters and waitresses, all tips go toward Safe Homes’ comprehensive services for individuals affected by domestic violence, as well as the agency’s programs for the prevention of intimate-partner and teen-dating violence.

This year’s Love-Gently dinner is the agency’s first major event under the leadership of new Executive Director Kellyann Kostyal. "We are continuing to build on the success of this annual event by creating a night filled with fun, familiar faces, captivating music, and community collaboration toward ending domestic violence," said Kostyal.

Waiter highlights include County Sheriff Carl Dubois; James O’Donnell, Chief of Staff for County Executive Edward Diana; County Attorney Sharon Worthy-Spiegl; Town of Cornwall Supervisor Kevin Quigley, Deputy Supervisor MaryBeth Greene-Krafft, and Council Person Randy Clark; County Legislator Alan Seidman; Tim Davidian, Supervisor with the Department of Probation; Cornwall artists James Ferrara and Karen Kaiser-Sharp; Reporter Oliver Mackson; Michele McKeon, former Safe Homes’ executive and the new CEO of the New York State Coalition Against Domestic Violence.

The evening will be graced with the musical talent of Dean Scher, COO and Executive Director of Catholic Charities Community Services of Orange County; Maryann Elberth, Director of Center for Recovery; and Donald Green of SUNY Orange. Rozelisa, a long-time friend of the agency and an event favorite, will volunteer her psychic gifts with Tarot-Card readings. Additional fundraising activities include the sale of chocolate-dipped strawberries by Commodore Chocolatier and a 50/50 raffle. In 2009, Love-Gently raised a record $6,500.00 for the agency’s mission.
