Allan Atzrott joins Regional Board

Newburgh – Allan E. Atzrott, President and CEO of St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, has been named to the American Hospital Association (AHA) Regional Policy Board, which represents and serves all types of hospitals, health care networks and their patients and communities in the mid-Atlantic region. The AHA is comprised of almost 5,000 hospitals, health care systems, networks and 37,000 individual members.

"I’m very flattered that my colleagues at the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS) nominated me to represent New York state in this proactive organization," said Atzrott. "These are challenging times in health care, and the American Hospital Association is a strong advocate for health care providers and the communities we serve."

Atzrott, who has been in health care administration for over 35 years, Serves on the Board of Governors of the Greater New York Hospital Association (GNYHA), is a board member of the Healthcare Association of New York State (HANYS), the Immediate Past Chairman of the Board of the Northern Metropolitan Hospital Association (NorMet) and sits on several community and professional boards. He joined St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital in 2000 and led the merger of St. Luke’s Hospital and The Cornwall Hospital. His extensive knowledge of health care management issues has enabled him to position SLCH for today’s competitive health care environment.

Throughout his tenure at St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital, Atzrott has worked to enhance patient satisfaction, facilities, technology and service. Several accomplishments include the establishment of the clinical affiliation with The Mount Sinai Hospital, the opening of the Littman Cancer Center and enhanced cardiac services (making SLCH one of the first hospitals in the region to offer elective angioplasty and other minimally invasive, cardiac procedures to patients who are at risk for heart attack).
