Newburgh – St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital (SLCH) received a donation of handcrafted quilts for pediatric patients from JetBlue Airways through web-based charity, Soaringwords, an organization dedicated to inspiring perseverance in chronically ill children and their families. Each quilt contains painted or embroidered inspirational messages and fun drawings to cheer and encourage young patients.
"JetBlue and Soaringwords’ donation of these handmade and heartfelt quilts will ease some of the anxiety children have when they’re in the hospital," said Sue Sullivan, SLCH Vice President of Development and Government Affairs. "The support we receive from our community partners is so important to our mission."
While delivering the SoaringQuilts®, JetBlue employees Monica Pennings, Jane Zolynas and Michelle Contreras were given a tour of the newly renovated and enhanced facilities at the Newburgh campus. "We’re committed to helping support organizations like St. Luke’s Cornwall Hospital that care for the health and well-being of our community," said Pennings. "We’re proud to be a part of a community that has access to world-class technology and services that are delivered in a warm and comforting setting."
