NEWBURGH - Earlier this year, Newburgh Free Academy hosted Coaches vs. Cancer, an event that raises funds for the American Cancer Society. In total, the event raised $1,062. The ACS’s Coaches vs. Cancer program empowers coaches, their teams, and communities to join the fight against cancer by participating in awareness efforts, advocacy programs, and fundraising activities.

As part of the event, NFA honored employee Michele McKnight and NFA Varsity Girls Basketball Captain Katie Cook’s grandmother Mary Ann Prokosch. Prokosch passed away following the event on April 5, 2014.
