Music and dancing on the waterfront

Newburgh - Enjoy olde school, Motown, Latin & Reggae dance music? Dance or just pat your foot down memory lane at the event of the season. The Ferry Godmother offers yet another great event at the City of Newburgh waterfront, the Newburgh Jazz Series 2010’s After Party Fundraiser. On the turntables (do they have them anymore?) is a Newburgh Jazz Series sponsor, and DJ great Rene Campos of DMU Music. At the food table will be the Hudson Valley’s best down home southern food caterer Mz. Hattie. The After Party has become an annual tradition that follows the last concert of the series; it is the grand finale. It is an important component because it assists with raising the money necessary to continue providing quality free jazz concerts. It will be held at the Newburgh Ferry Boat landing on Thursday August 26th, 10:00 p.m. - 1:00 a.m. The party is a "blast from the past" evening and "creative attire" is encouraged. Admission includes food and non-alcoholic beverages. Tickets are limited and can be purchased at the concerts or from the Ferry Godmother at the Newburgh Ferry booth during regular ferry booth hours, Monday-Friday 5:00 - 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 - 9:00 p.m. For more information email the Ferry Godmother at info@ferrygodmother.com.

Providing the music for the After-Party will be DMU Music. DMU Music is a staple in the City of Newburgh community. Making a special guest appearance at the turntables for the After-Party will be DMU Music owner Rene Campos, a professional DJ since 1988. The best in the Hudson Valley, Rene spins a wide variety of sounds like olde school, R&B, reggae, house, dance classics, salsa, merengue, bachata, and more. He and his staff have established a reputation in the region’s clubs and radio as being one of the best in the music industry. DMU Music has a shop on lower Broadway, across from City Hall, where they carry a full selection of pro sound and lighting equipment with all the top brands in the industry for purchase or rental.

Ferry Godmother Productions is dedicated to creating a positive change in the City of Newburgh and bringing art to people from around the Hudson Valley. "This fundraising event is a bridge to great things and is worthy of support," states Aquanetta "Ferry Godmother" Wright, event creator and producer. "I would encourage everyone to attend this fundraising event to help keep music alive, she continues."

Newburgh Jazz Series After-Party offers lots of socializing, conversation, and recreation opportunities. Come join the Ferry Godmother and family where it all began, at the Newburgh-Beacon Ferry Boat. This After-Party Celebration supports the love of jazz.
