Woodstock - Beginning Saturday, July 10th, an outdoor sculpture exhibit, curated by sculptor Alex Kveton, will be installed on the grounds of the Woodstock School of Art. The unique and historic bluestone and native timber buildings of the school which were constructed in 1939 as an initiative of the New Deal’s Works Progress Administration, will provide a perfect backdrop for the works of eight modern sculptors from Woodstock and its surrounding area.
Curator Kveton invited seven of his contemporaries, a "who’s who" of sculptors of the Upper Hudson River Valley, for the exhibit. They are: Anthony Krauss, Basha Ruth Nelson, Lenny Kislin, Jeff Schiller, Shelley Parriott, Ze’ev "Willy" Neumann and Michael Ciccone. Each of the artists has had national and international recognition for their vibrant and lively work.
Alex Kveton is an internationally renowned sculptor, whose work is recognized for both their originality and the high quality of their execution. Originally from the Czech Republic, Kveton studied at the Technical School of Machinery Construction in Czech Republic and the prestigious Academy of Arts, Architecture and Design in Prague where he received his Master Degree in Sculpture and Industrial Design.
