Newburgh - The days of the drive-in may be past, but you can still enjoy that outdoor movie experience in Downing Park. The City of Newburgh Department of Human Services, Youth Bureau and the Downing Park Planning Committee are sponsoring free movie nights, July 22 and July 29 beginning at 8 p.m. in the Amphitheatre at the Park.
On July 22, bring the family, blankets, and lounge chairs to see the Oscar-winning Happy Feet, directed by George Miller. Happy Feet is the story of an emperor penguin who is a social outcast because he lacks the ability to sing, a key attribute of the bird. But, he sure can tap dance. Rain date for this presentation is July 29.
Change the way you think about bees on July 29 with the Bee Movie written by and starring Jerry Seinfeld. Seinfeld is the voice of Barry B. Benson, who discovers there is a world outside of the hive when he meets a florist (played by Rene Zellweger).
Free popcorn, sno-cones, and lemonade will be provided at both events.
