Goshen - County Executive Edward A. Diana has announced the award winners for the 2008 Orange Arts grants. Twenty-six awards were made in amounts between $1000 and $4500 to organizations and individuals in the county.
"In six years we have invested over $375,000 in arts projects solely for Orange County artists and local arts organizations," said County Executive Diana. "This money has a positive, direct impact on arts and cultural programs in Orange County for and by our residents."
This year the top awards went to Opera Company of the Highlands for a series of performances of "Madame Butterfly" and to the Greater Newburgh Symphony Orchestra for local concert performances.
The grants are administered by Orange Arts, a program of Orange County Tourism. Recommendations of grant recipients are made by a panel of experienced individuals who live or work in Orange County. Applications for the next round of grants will be available in December 2008. If you are a resident artist of Orange County and would like to register with Orange Arts, contact Rebecca L.
