Soul City plays historic Mohonk Mountain House

Bobby Jimenez, Angie Moger and Madelene Phalen perform at the historic Mohonk Mountain House in New Paltz NY. Soul City performs classics from the 60s and 70s. For the Hudson Valley Press/Ed McCarthy

By Reneé Ruwe

Like a soul train stopping from city to city across the valley, Soul City is on the move and probably coming to a city near you.

Soul City performs a repertoire that covers the 60’s and 70’s soul classics of both Motown and the Memphis soul sound of Watt Staxx. This 7-piece Motown, Watt Staxx tribute band has been zig-zagging from the Casino at Monticello Raceway, to venues in Kingston, Woodstock, Beacon, Newburgh, Montgomery and Middletown. The band’s three featured front singers are Angie Moger, Madelene Phalen, and Bobby Jimenez, who take turns singing great soul classics while getting the crowd to join in the fun.
