Woodstock School of Art to host summer classes

WOODSTOCK - The Woodstock School of Art has announced the return of summer workshops for three age groups: 7-9, 10-12, and 13-14.

On Mondays and Tuesdays during July and August, beginning Monday, July 8th and continuing through Tuesday, August 27th, artists Margarete de Soleil and Jenne M. Currie, both of Woodstock, will offer classes tailored to each age group. De Soleil will teach 10-12 & 13-14 year olds, and Currie, 7-9 year olds. Thanks to funding from the Community Foundations of the Hudson Valley, the WSA is able to offer the classes at affordable rates.

For the 10-12 and 13-14 year old groups, De Soleil will lead her students in an exploration of personal expression and creativity via paint, t-shirt design, mask-making, jewelry, portrait drawing, color mixing and paper-making, graphic design, nature dyes and much more!

Children 7-9 years old will embark on a Summer Art Safari with Jenne M. Currie. The animals and masks of Africa and New Guinea will be the theme as kids use their imaginations create designs for papier maché animals from recycled objects.

Students may enroll for all eight sessions or for four sessions, but sessions must be in consecutive weeks, either July 8th-29th or August 5th-26th, to best facilitate project completion.
