NEWBURGH – Friends of Newburgh Crew, Inc., the 501( c)(3) which takes in donations to fund the NFA Varsity Crew Team, will be hosting a St. Patrick’s Day Event with a multi-cultural flair, at Youngest Brother Restaurant on March 17, 2013, from 12-4 p.m., announced Team Mom Juliana LoBiondo.
"We are calling it St. Patrick’s Day ‘Newburgh Style’," said Team Mom LoBiondo. "Newburgh is a melting pot, and so is our St. Patrick’s Day event. We will have a buffet from 12-3 pm which has Irish food, Italian food, and Puerto Rican food. We will have entertainment representing Newburgh’s Irish and Latino traditions. Children from the Farrell School of Dance will be performing Irish Step Dancing, and we will have the world-class salsa company, ‘Mas Salsa Que Tu,’ dancing various Latin dances, and giving salsa lessons. This is what we love about Newburgh, there’s something for everyone."
There will be free coffee and cookies for Friends of Newburgh Crew, whichrefers to donors and family, from 3-4 p.m. There will also be a Silent Auction, with everything from Tax Return preparations to a math tutoring package to custom designed jewelry being auctioned off.
The Crew Team is the only 100% community-funded varsity team at NFA, and 100% of net proceeds will go to fund the team. The entertainers have all donated their time, said Team Mom LoBiondo, whose youngest son, Michael LoBiondo, will be performing with the Farrell School of Dance.
"The kids are really looking forward to the performance," said Ashley Gilnack, an instructor with the Farrell School of Dance.
"We are excited to be performing and teaching in Newburgh," said Junior Reyes, one of the principal dancers and founders of "Mas Salsa Que Tu." The Middletown-based dance company and dance school is now offering a dance class at the Inspire School in Newburgh on Wednesdays, from 7-9 p.m. "There’s no place else you’d rather be on St. Patrick’s Day," said Coach Ed Kennedy, Head Coach of the NFA Varsity Crew Team.
There will be a cash bar. For tickets or to learn more information, or to make a donation to the Silent Auction, contact Team Mom Juliana LoBiondo at juliana@lobiondolaw.com or Coach Ed Kennedy at (845) 541-2313.
