24th International Festival coming to Armory
A free, bilingual performance of Criss-Crossing Borders: the Panama Suitcase Show, presented by the Arm-of-the Sea Productions, will be held on Sunday, September 2, 2012 at 1 p.m.
NEWBURGH - The 24th Annual International Festival will be on the spacious grounds of the Newburgh Armory Unity Center at 321-393 S. William Street, from Friday evening, August 31st - Monday, September 3rd. In addition to the carnival midway by C&N Amusements, there will be a wide array of international cuisine, vendors, and live performances.
The Arm of the Sea Theater, which has delighted regional audiences for more than 20 years, will present the bilingual “Criss-Crossing Borders- the Panama Suitcase Show” on Sunday, September 2nd at 1 p.m. The show incorporates visual storytelling to portray kinship ties between animals and humans, and between people living on opposite sides of a border. The performance is family-oriented, and free!
This year’s free live performances will kick off with Midnite Image Band on Friday, August 31st from 7-9 p.m. The Gospel Fest, coordinated by Rev. Stacy Burks is planned for Monday, September 3rd from 1-3 p.m.
The full music schedule will be announced shortly and available on the website www.cityofnewburgh-ny.gov.
The festival will go on, rain or shine. Midway rides and early-bird vendors will begin on Friday afternoon. The festivities will be in full swing on Saturday and Sunday from noon to 11 p.m., and on Monday from noon till 10 p.m.
