Mount Saint Mary Athletics Awards Ceremony



Danielle Rodriguez was named Female Knight of the Year during Mount Saint Mary College’s annual Athletics Awards Ceremony.

NEWBURGH - With the close of the 2013-14 academic year, the Mount Saint Mary College Department of Athletics held its annual Athletics Awards Ceremony Thursday evening, recognizing exceptional student-athletes with five different award categories.

The following individuals were given awards during the ceremony:

Rookie of the Year

The Rookie of the Year is the student-athlete who, in his or her first year as a college athlete, had the most impressive season here at Mount Saint Mary.

Male - Adam Al-Haraizeh - Men’s Cross Country/Track and Field

Female - Katie Gattoni - Women’s Lacrosse

Scholar-Athlete of the Year

The Scholar-Athlete of the Year is the student-athlete who turned in the best effort in the classroom, as well as a stellar effort on the field of play.

Male - Stephen White - Men’s Lacrosse; Female - Victoria Goldbach - Softball

Senior of the Year

The Senior of the Year is the student-athlete who has accomplished the most in his or her sport throughout his or her tenure as a Knight.

Male - Greg Jacob - Men’s Tennis

Female - Jacquelyn Mancini - Women’s Soccer

Athlete of the Year

The Athlete of the Year is the student-athlete who performed the best in his or her sport among all of our student-athletes.

Male - Matt Garcia - Men’s Soccer

Female - Tara McDermott - Women’s Soccer

Knight of the Year

The Knight of the Year is he or she who best represents the Mount Saint Mary College Athletic Department, as well as the college as a whole. The Knight of the Year has all of the qualities you want in a student and an athlete, and goes well above and beyond the call of duty.

Male - Joe Stabach - Men’s Basketball; Female - Danielle Rodriguez - Women’s Swimming
