Newburgh Rowing Club collects, delivers helmets

Newburgh Rowing Club Student Ambassadors, who are all residents of the City of Newburgh and row on scholarship, deliver bike helmets to the Newburgh Salvation Army.

NEWBURGH - Rowers from the Newburgh Rowing Club collected new and used kids’ bike helmets to donate to the Newburgh Salvation Army’s Bike Safety Event, held on Saturday August 3, 2013.

"We collected about a dozen helmets, with Mrs. Danielle Crinieri and Mrs. LoBiondo going out and purchasing several new helmets for the kids," said Coach Ed Kennedy, Programs Director of the Newburgh Rowing Club. "We then went over to the Newburgh Salvation Army and donated them in person. Mr. Eachus, who is on the Board of the Salvation Army and also cheered on our rowers at the Hometown Heroes Regatta the same day, advised us that the Bike Safety Event was a great success, with children receiving their own bikes and helmets as part of the event."
