NEWBURGH - On April 27, 2013 the coaches and rowers of the Newburgh Rowing Family (Newburgh Rowing Club and NFA Varsity Crew Team) took indoor rowing machines, called ergometers, over to the YMCA Health Kids Day at the Armory and taught dozens of children how to row, and talked about the importance of health and fitness.

"We are right in the middle of crew season but we love giving back to the community and this is one of our favorite events," said Coach Ed Kennedy, Programs Director for the Newburgh Rowing Club and Head Coach of the NFA Varsity Crew Team.

One rower, Emma Jendrejeski, of the NFA Varsity Crew Team, rowed in the Kingston crew meet on Friday, April 25th, spent all day teaching kids to row at the YMCA-Armory event, then spent the day competing at a crew meet at Bayshore, Long Island on Sunday. "I loved teaching the kids to row," said Jendrejeski, "I can’t wait to do it again."
