Wynans Named City of Newburgh Water Department Superintendent

Newburgh - Acting City Manager Richard Herbek has named Jeffrey S. Wynans as the new City of Newburgh Water Department Superintendent.

 

Mr. Wynans has more than 20 years experience in water services including wastewater treatment and water distribution. His most recent position was Water Service Superintendent for the Northern Westchester Joint Water Works. His career includes two years as Senior Boiler and Water Plant Operator for the Mohonk Mountain House, while employed by Smiley Brothers, Inc. As Water Treatment Plant Operator for MHPC, Inc., he was responsible for the day-to-day operation and maintenance of the Millwood and New Paltz Water Treatment Plants.

A Navy Veteran, Mr. Wynans was trained as an electrician aboard the USS Manitowic LST 1180, and earned certificates in the Navy’s Fireman Apprentice Training and Damage Control Trainer courses. Following his service, he received a diploma in electrical construction and maintenance. He went on to become certified in Water Distribution Systems, Backflow Device Testing and Water Treatment Plant Operations. He is a member of several professional associations including the American Waterworks Association, Hudson Valley Water Works Association, and Westchester Waterworks Association.

 

“I consider this new position to be a great career opportunity, and a challenge,” said Mr. Wynans. “The City of Newburgh’s water treatment facility is one of the best in Orange County, and I am looking forward to continuing to provide the community with quality water.”

 

Mr. Herbek commented, “We are fortunate to have someone with Jeffrey’s experience on board to oversee the operations of our Distribution system, and our water treatment facility which serves the City of Newburgh and surrounding communities. It truly is one of the finest facilities in the region, and I am very pleased to welcome Jeff to our professional team.”
