Montgomery – The Board of Directors of Orange County United Way has named Judy Eurich as the organization’s new President and Chief Professional Officer. Eurich, a native of the county, will assume her new role on January 4, 2010, and succeeds outgoing president, John C. Checklick, who is retiring.
As the President and CPO, Eurich is responsible for promoting the United Way’s mission to make a measurable difference in people’s lives throughout Orange County. She will be responsible for maintaining and expanding financial support, engaging volunteers and providing the necessary leadership to achieve and present measurable results to the community.
Commenting on the appointment, Orange County United Way Board Chair Donna Benson said, “Judy is the ideal candidate for the position. She is well-known in the community, is deeply committed to the mission and values of the organization, and possesses a diversity of professional experience that will benefit the United Way and the community we serve as she leads the organization into the next decade.”
“It is truly a privilege and honor to be selected as the United Way’s new President and CPO,” said Eurich. “Now, more than ever, the work of the United Way is so vital to the wellbeing of the residents of Orange County. Throughout my life, I have been an avid believer in giving back to my community. What better way to continue that commitment than by leading an organization that affects a positive change and improves the quality of life for the residents of this county?”
As an Orange County United Way board member and volunteer for the past four and a half years, Eurich spearheaded the strategic planning committee, served on the executive and marketing committees and was a member of one of the United Way’s community impact councils. She also co-founded the Orange County Women’s Leadership Fund (WLF), a new philanthropic initiative of United Way that creates lasting change that moves women and girls toward financial independence. Since its inception three years ago, the WLF has raised over $80,000.
During her career, Eurich has held various marketing and public relations positions at several Hudson Valley corporations and organizations including the Orange County Partnership, Stewart International Airport, and The Culinary Institute of America.
Eurich holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in communications from Fordham University and a Master of Arts degree in liberal studies from Empire State College.
An active member of the community, Eurich was honored as one of the 2006 Women of Achievement in Orange County. She is also past president of the Sarah Wells Girls Scout Council, a 1997 alumnae and former board member of Leadership Orange, and an alumna of the 2001 Leadership Sullivan Class. An avid runner, Eurich has served as race director for one of the area’s major events, the Orange Classic 10K-road race.
She resides in Warwick, NY, with her husband, Bruce, and their three “furry” children.
