Minuta Earns National Certification

Laurie Minuta, of New Windsor, recently earned her Personal Trainer Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM). She is available for training sessions through All Sport in Fishkill.

New Windsor - When it comes to personal training, New Windsor resident Laurie Minuta knows it’s a whole lot more than just lifting weights and running laps. Laurie recently earned her Personal Trainer Certification from the National Academy of Sports Medicine (NASM).

Considered by many to be one of the highest standards and greatest accomplishments in the field of personal training, Laurie was required to meet the rigorous standards set forth by NASM. In addition to the many physical fitness requirements, Laurie was tested on her understanding of human physiology and anatomy. She also earned American Red Cross certification for the administration of Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED).

As a personal trainer, Laurie specializes in the areas of weight loss and confidence building. “Physical fitness and maintaining a healthy lifestyle have been a longtime passion for me,” said Laurie. “I’m very proud to have earned this gold standard in training and am happy that I can work with others to enhance their lives through improved fitness and healthier living,” Laurie continued. As a wife, working mother, and cancer survivor, Laurie understands first-hand the many challenges people face and their impact on one’s health and well-being. “My words to live by are ‘the greatest wealth is health,” adds Laurie.

No newcomer to physical training, Laurie has held five consecutive New York State Body Building Championship titles. She also ranked second in the ADFPA National Body Building Championships in 2000. That year Laurie also placed first in the deadlift.

NASM’s Certified Personal Trainer program is accredited by NCCA, the National Commission for Certifying Agencies, which has reviewed accredited programs since 1987. The NCCA is a division of NOCA, the National Organization for Competency Assurance, which has been a leader in setting standards for credentialing organizations for more than three decades.
