New York Voting Rules
Voter Registration Form:

Deadline to Register:
25 days before Election Day (October 10).
Voter Eligibility:
Be a citizen of the United States (Includes those persons born in Puerto Rico, Guam and the U.S. Virgin Islands), be a New York resident for at least 30 days, be 18 years of age before the next election, not be serving a jail sentence or be on parole for a felony conviction, not be adjudged mentally incompetent by a court, not claim the right to vote elsewhere (outside the State of New York).
Identification Requirements:
DMV number (driver’s license number or non-driver ID number), or the last four digits of your social security number.

How to Register Others:
There are no rules. As you collect them, send them to the appropriate county boards.
Absentee Voting:
Absentee voting is available. Excuses are required.
Excuses: Unavoidably absent from your county on Election Day, unable to appear at the polls due to illness or disability, a patient in a Veterans’ Administration Hospital, or detained in jail awaiting Grand Jury action or confined in prison after conviction for an offense other than a felony.

Early Vote:
No early voting is available.
